Please join us for a free educational tour (best suited for children between 4th – 8th grades) of the new Voyage Solar System Model with esteemed astrophysicist and creator of the model, Dr. Jeff Bennett.
The Voyage Model depicts the Sun, the planets, and the distances between them all on the same scale of 1 to 10 billion, giving visitors a real sense of the vastness of our solar system (“that’s why they call it space!”). Dr. Bennett proposed the idea for and helped develop this solar system model which first premiered at the National Mall in Washington, DC. Among his many achievements, Dr. Bennett has written award-winning children’s science books. He educates and inspires children and young adults in science and astronomy through workshops, curriculum development, writing and more. Don’t miss this space flight and the chance to better understand the solar system we call home.
This special tour will start at the Sun stanchion of the Voyage Solar System Model, which is located next to the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo and Rinconada Playground. To learn more about the JMZ’s model, read our June Newsletter.
Reservations are required and all booked at this time. As a free outdoor exhibit, the model is available to visitors outside of JMZ operating hours. We encourage you to take a tour of the model when convenient for you and your family!
